Each year people watch the American Music Awards to find out whether their favorite musical artists get the recognition the fans believe they deserve. There is a lot more to the American Music Awards, and this year was no exception. The most dramatic part of the AMAs this year was when Jennifer Lopez — whose fans call her J. Lo — fell on stage at the AMAs.

Don’t worry, J. Lo’s fall wasn’t a Steven Tyler/Spinal Tap epic one. She was uninjured, but when J. Lo falls at the AMAs, it’s kind of a big a deal. Luckily, that which has made Lopez famous has not only made her rich and famous, but it also protects J. Lo falls down on stage. So she’s fine. She won’t need quick personal loans if she was injured, because she has an insurance policy on perhaps the most famous posterior in the world.

Yes, America voted for that folk singer guy whose name I can’t remember. Adam Lambert did get a huge write-up in Rolling Stone, and he’s getting a lot of press thanks to the cover of his debut album. It’s pretty undebatable: Adam Lambert, “American Idol” runner-up is way more famous than the winner.

Adam Lambert’s performance at the AMAs has garnered a lot of attention, keeping with his rise to uber-stardom. Sure, not all of the attention directed at Adam Lambert’s AMA performance is positive, but that’s to be expected. Watch Adam Lambert’s performance for yourself before you go listening to all the critics and complainers whinge about it.

American Music Award winners

In case you’re wondering who actually won at the American Music Awards, here’s the rundown of the big ones. Michael Jackson won four awards post mortem, taking Favorite Male Artist for Pop/Rock, and Soul/R&B as well. His album “Number Ones” got both awards in these categories, too.

The Black Eyed Peas took home Favorite Band, Duo, or Group in both categories. Rascal Flatts won that category in Country. Jay-Z won all available titles in the rap/hip hop category, winning Favorite Male Artist and Favorite Album. Keith Urban won Favorite Male Artist for Country, and Beyonce won Favorite Female Artist for soul/R&B.

The most awards were given to Taylor Swift, taking 5 including Favorite Female Artist in Country, Pop/Rock, and Adult Contemporary. She also took home Favorite Album for her album “Fearless” in Country. And, of course, she won Artist of the Year.
